The Spira® Stinger XLT neutral trainer is an ideal race day shoe for runners with normal to high arch foot types, who need the support of a training shoe, yet want the lightweight responsive qualities of a racing shoe. The XLT trainer is extremely well cushioned and helps to maximize running performance and reduce fatigue, stress and impact forces. What is WaveSpring® Technology?
The WaveSpring® is a stable and lightweight spring that is placed in the heel and forefoot of every Spira® running shoe. Our patented WaveSpring® technology allows people to participate in their activities for longer periods of time, with far less stress on muscles and joints. Think of our technology as “little shock absorbers” for your body.
Most cushioning technologies rely upon a variety of compressive foams and similar materials that may provide an initial sense of comfort, but begin to break down almost immediately. Because the WaveSpring® is mechanical it provides a “new shoe” feel for the life of the shoe and will not lose its extraordinary feel over time.

A recent study by Dr. Kenneth Riess from the Northern Alberta Institute of Technology concluded that there was a statistically significant difference in steady state oxygen consumption between the shoes.
